What is Deslorelin？
Deslorelin is a synthetic analogue of gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is more potent than the native hormone and is more resistant to proteolysis Parker and Schimmer. Like GnRH, it binds with high affinity to the GnRH receptor on anterior pituitary cells, where it acts as an agonist.
Acutely, it stimulates the secretion of LH and FSH from the anterior pituitary but prolonged, continuous exposure leads to inhibition of secretion by desensitization of the pituitary gonadotropes. As with other GnRH agonists, it has potential therapeutic applications in the treatment of endometriosis, uterine leiomyoma (fibroids), malignant neoplasms, and assisted reproduction protocols.
