Angtensin 1-7 is the main active component of renin-angiotensin system (RAS), which is produced by the decomposition of angiotensin II by angiotensin converting enzyme 2(ACE2). Angotensin1-7 inhibited the activity of purified canine angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) with an IC50 of 0.65μM m. Angotensin1-7 can be used as a local synergistic modulator of kinin-induced vasodilation by inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme and releasing nitric oxide. Angiotensin1-7 blocks the proliferation and hypertrophy of smooth muscle cells induced by AngII, and shows anti-angiogenesis and growth inhibition effects on endothelium.
