What is pepstatin acetate/Acetyl pepstatin?
Pepstatin acetate is also called Pepitatin. An acid protease inhibitor.
Produced by Streptomyces testaceus, it can inhibit pepsin, gastric protease, cathepsin D and angiotensin releasing enzyme, and is effective for gastric ulcer, renal hypertension, arthritis, carrageenan edema and other diseases.

A needle-like crystal. Melting point is 228～229℃. Optical rotation [α] D27-90° (0.288%, methanol). Positive reaction to Rydon-Smith and potassium permanganate, negative reaction to Sakaguchi and Elli.
Solubility application of pepstatin acetate
Easily soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetic acid, but insoluble in organic solvents such as ethyl acetate, ether, benzene, and chloroform. The UV spectrum is terminal absorption, with 13 components.
